God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and Truth. (John 4:24 NRSV)

A lay reader (in some jurisdictions simply Reader) is a layperson authorized by a bishop of the Anglican Church to read some parts of a service of worship. They are members of the congregation called to assist in leading services, but not called to full-time ordained ministry.

At St. Francis you will see our Lay Readers leading the congregation in Psalms, reading the appointed scriptures for the week, leading the Prayers of the People, and helping to distribute communion.

If you feel called to this kind of minsitry, please make an appointment and speak with the Pastor.
